A fantastic framed botanical print stemming from Welsh botanist Griffith Hughes' [1707-1758) research publication "The Natural History of Barbados [pub. 1750]. The book captures Hughes' recorded observations of the natural botanical features of the island over a period of of several years. The illustrative prints are taken from illustrations done by famed German botanist, botanical illustrator and entomologist, George Dionysius Ehret (G.D. Ehret) and sculpted to plate by J. Mynde [1740-1770], sculptor. These are vintage (mid-20th century) lithograph derived from the plate printing process. The lithograph is in excellent condition & has been professionally framed with off white mat. The print is framed ready to hang. Print is in excellent condition with colors that are bright and vivid. The backing is fully intact. Glass is in excellent condition with no scratches.
